Founded in 1967, ACS International Schools (ACS) educate more than 3,500 students (aged two to 18, day and boarders) from more than 100 countries. It has three sites in the UK – Cobham, Egham and Hillingdon – and one in Doha, Qatar.

Renowned for its commitment to using technology to elevate educational experiences, ACS were keen to refresh its aging WAN and LAN and implement a service-ready, high availability and resilient LAN infrastructure, optimised for connected classroom learning and evolving digital learning needs, such as video streaming.

Focus Group pipped two other Cisco providers to the post thanks to the fact that they were considered to “eat, live and breathe’ Cisco network technologies and vast research conducted by ACS International Schools revealed Focus Group’s “deep experience at enabling services for today’s digitally-led education instructions.”

Focus Group specified a 10GB Ethernet backbone with server to support a hyper-converged environment, ensuring optimum efficiency, before completely refreshing the backbone and LAN infrastructures at each school campus. Included in this was the implementation of Cisco Catalyst 6800 Series Switches complete with power supply redundancy to limit network downtime at the Cobham site. Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series Switches now support the Egham and Hillingdon sites. In total, 700 components were installed across the three sites in under six weeks.

ACS also selected Focus Group to take over the 24/7 management and support of their LAN environment. Focus will also be working on future projects to evolve ACS’s technology surrounding tele-presence and unified comms.

This network architecture refresh now ensures enterprise performance for an improved learning experience and little worries over any technical issues!
